Sprint’s Michael L. Desa Joins Executive Council of New York Board of Advisors

The Executive Council of New York today announced the appointment of Michael L. Desa, area vice president for Sprint (NYSE: S) Business Solutions – New York Metro, to its board of advisors. With more than 25 years of industry experience in telecommunication system engineering, manufacturing and operations, Mr. Desa will bring a breadth of insight to broaden the Council’s reach and strengthen the offerings it provides its members and the metropolitan area.

“The Executive Council offers an incredible depth of resources that contribute to the growth of the region’s business and economy,” said Mr. Desa. “Sprint is a long-time advocate of business leadership organizations such as the Executive Council, and as a board member, I’m looking forward to contributing to the important mission of this organization.”

Mr. Desa, who has been with Sprint for more than 15 years, manages the company’s Enterprise Accounts sales organization focused on providing integrated telecommunications solutions to major businesses in the greater New York area. In this role, Mr. Desa is responsible for developing and implementing strategic business plans that target and deliver business solutions to these key clients in the market, and creating account specific programs that bring Sprint’s wireline and wireless assets to market.

Mr. Desa joins the current Executive Council board of directors, whose members include Chip Austin, managing principal, I-Hatch Ventures; Ray Kalustyan, vice president, EDS, Robert Schwed, partner, Brad Brown, partner, McKinsey & Co.; Wilmer Pickering Hale and Dorr; Donna Iucolano, CEO, IMP Publishing, Martin Cassidy, director, Microsoft Corporation; Savio Chan, CEO, US China Partners; Mark Hanny, vice president, IBM; Robert DeBatto, vice president of sales, UPS; Robert Levitan, CEO, Pando Networks; Jeffery Singer, vice president, NASDAQ; and Patricia Traynor, vice president, AT&T; Bruce Mosler, chairman and chief executive officer, Cushman & Wakefield and Roger Savell, partner, Ernst & Young.

The Executive Council is a non-profit organization that brings together New York's business community for the purposes of fostering knowledge-sharing and business networking in a professional environment. The Executive Council programs focus on critical business and leadership issues at the intersection of technology and business, with unique industry programs focusing on venture capital, security, and corporate governance, among others. The Executive Council Corporate Members range from AT&T, IBM and Microsoft to TimeWarner, Citibank, and Merrill Lynch as well as many other large and emerging growth technology and financial services companies and major law and accounting firms.
