After a day in Manhattan touting the new "Chase for the Nextel Cup" format and trophy, NASCAR Chair & CEO Brian France, Nextel Senior VP Mark Schweitzer and team owner Ray Evernham joined a panel discussion at the N.Y. Yacht Club. France acknowledged that the format change had some risk, but said, "We thought that raising the level of competition on the track would still be in the sweet-spot for our core audience and help us attract more casual fans."
