Restaurant.com
Restaurant.com was started out of a partnership with SYSCO Foodservice (NYSE: SYY) in 1999. The company employs approximately 100 people, is headquartered outside Chicago and maintains offices in New York as well. We are in the business of partnering with and promoting restaurants to help them fill empty tables via a series of powerful marketing programs -offered to the restaurants at absolutely no out-of-pocket expense. We offer consumers who visit our site (or via affiliates) the opportunity to purchase Gift Certificates from robust websites that we design, host and maintain for nearly 10,000 participating restaurants nation-wide. The certificates are purchased online via credit card at a handsome discount to the face value. They are then emailed to the consumer, who can print them out for immediate use. As a result of this unique model and our unparalleled reach to the restaurant community, Restaurant.com has grown to be the largest online dining destination of its kind on the Internet over the past 8 years.
We also work with numerous corporations, charities and promotional outfits, supplying them with bulk quantity private-label "Dining Dough" certificates. These can be offered out as incentives, rewards, gifts, etc., also at steep discounts to the face-value. For more information please see www.restaurant.com or www.diningdough.com

Johnston/On the Spa Life

An interview with Susie Ellis, president of Spa Finder

Who says the Executive Council newsletter has to be all about business all the time? Here’s some pleasure to help your through the mid-summer grind in the office. We’ll keep the lifestyle advice coming your way and, even if you can’t actually go to Miraval, you can at least enjoy a few moments of relaxation and make it look like you’re studiously reviewing an important client e-mail right now.

Enjoy,
Bob Johnston

When it comes to luxury living, spas are becoming what golf courses became 30 years ago

Just a few years back, the idea of a full-time spa residence community was relatively unheard of. But since 2004, the numbers have jumped from just 25 to roughly 200 in 2006 according to Spa Finder, which has been tracking the trend since its inception. The massive growth was fueled primarily by affluent Baby Boomers and their astronomical spending power.

“The idea of living in a community where spa living and health and wellness amenities are utterly central holds tremendous appeal for this generation.” says Susie Ellis, president of Spa Finder. “When it comes to luxury living, spas are becoming what golf courses became 30 years ago — the must-have amenity — because they are providing Baby Boomers with their most important lifestyle requirement: health, fitness, and wellness.”

Beyond Boomers, however, Spa Finder has been tracking a new breed of buyer in the trend. “It’s a large demographic of hard-working, strong-earning people focused on making their lives — outside the breakneck, stressful work schedules — simpler, healthier, more relaxing,” says Ellis, who mentions residences such as Miraval Living in New York City, which targets families juggling home life with extremely high-powered careers. “Living there allows extremely busy, type-A businesspeople to work harder, control stress, and spend the few moments they have on their health and well-being.”

Canyon Ranch Miami Beach is slated to open this fall. The average age of the buyers? “Forty-four years old,” says Erin Figg of director, media relations for Canyon Ranch. “It will be the first residential community of its kind…where residents will have access to all the health and healing aspects of a Canyon Ranch destination resort or SpaClub, but in their own living environment.”

A typical day could include anything from a Dexa Bone Density Scan, acupuncture, or positive psychology consultation to a personal Pilates session or a pedicure at the salon. Canyon Ranch Living - Chicago is next on the company’s agenda and they’re taking reservations now. Prices in the 67-story elliptical tower will start at $810,000.
