A native of Durham, Jim earned his degree in Mathematics and Economics from Washington and Lee University. Jim started his career as a police officer in his hometown, much to the dismay of his career counselor and parents. He spent 7 years as an officer in Durham and it remains a source of pride and meaning to him. Jim returned to school and obtained a Masters of Accounting from UNC Chapel Hill and, subsequently, worked at Arthur Anderson, KPMG and Ernst & Young. Jim moved to the client side by joining the Hornets in 2007. As the Controller for the club and Treasurer for the associated non-profit, he has helped the organization through various transitions including the majority interest acquisition by Michael Jordan, the name change from the Bobcats to the Hornets, and the formation of the minor league basketball team, the Greensboro Swarm.
