David Herr is the current Chief Technology Officer for the Dallas Mavericks and a long-time entrepreneur here in Texas. He has spent the last 17 years building Internet and Data Center related firms as well as several software platforms being used around the world.

Some of the highlights from those last 17 years include:

  • First underground data center built in a former nuclear fallout shelter. Located just outside Houston it comprised 60 acres and 50,000 square feet underground
  • One of the first wireless local loop bypass companies. Eventually covering 9 Cities and sold to a national carrier in 2001

Prior to 2000 he worked in Government management positions as completed some of the first systems of their kind in Montgomery County, Texas:

  • 1994 First video arraignment system, eliminating transport of prisoners to the courthouse daily
  • 1995 First GPS-based simulcast public safety trunked radio system
  • 1996 First County to use computerized “Ten Print” terminals and satellite connections for rapid identification on booking systems

Since joining the Mavericks he has worked to update the mobile app and the amount of information and activity that can be accomplished with it. Other projects that the Mavs are excited about include gamification of the mobile app, building loyalty and rewards programs, augmented reality implementations, and some very cutting edge game day technology and experiences.

Previously David has spoken at the Wireless Broadband Alliance conferences in San Francisco and the Telecommunications industry Association (TIA) 2016 meeting here in Dallas on the future of 5G communications networks.
